Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) from the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), which also includes eucalyptus, is known for its healing properties. The composition of the essential oil includes monoterpenes (40-50%), diterpenes (up to 40%) and 1,8-cineole (3-15%). There is especially a lot of terpinen-4-ol in ChD essential oil (above 30%), which provides a pronounced antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral effect.
Tea tree oil inhibits the growth of bacteria such as staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Unlike antibiotics, it does not kill bacteria, viruses and fungi, but limits their growth and brings their number to the maximum permissible limit, while simultaneously stimulating the human immune system. This effect of the oil can be called harmonizing and regulating.
